ABOUT
Kalamazoo Masters Swim Club is for ANYONE 18 years and older who wishes to improve their swimming ability for recreational, fitness or competitive purposes, regardless of prior experience or ability. There are three types of swim groups in our program— ALTS lessons for beginners, LTLS for those who are able to swim short distances, but need to learn how to breath and build endurance, and the Workout Group for swimmers interested in training for wellness, fitness, and/or competition. Our coaches adapt lessons and workouts to the abilities of each swimmer in order to improve technique and efficiency and build endurance.
We are proud to count athletes who are life-long swimmers, and those who consider running, biking or triathlons as their primary focus but desire to cross train in the water as part of our team. In essence, the group is a community of people who are like-minded in the belief that overall wellness and healthy living, strength, and focus begins with a regular routine of exercise and effort through movement.
Our team is a workout group and is part of the Michigan Masters Swimming which in turn is part of the national organization of United States Masters Swimming (USMS). All members of our group are members of USMS, which offers benefits from insurance, SWIMMER magazine, discounted products from sponsors, and sanctioned events.
It's important to recognize for swimmers that being in the pool throughout our lifetime is something that is achievable and worth doing. We invite you to join us and realize your own personal goals.

Kalamazoo College Center Civic Engagement
The mission of the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) is affirming the central goals of the College, the CCE engages students, faculty, and community members in sustained partnerships that foster collaborative learning and civic participation in a diverse, democratic society. By forging a link between critical civic engagement and learning, the CCE works to strengthen the community, invigorate the educational experience, and promote a more just, equitable and sustainable world.
CCE helps support our Adult Learn-to-Swim program by offering free childcare to our program’s participants. CCE also supports our swim community by offering low-cost swimming lessons to the children of Kalamazoo in a partnership with The City of Kalamazoo called Swim for Success. By aligning the schedule of our two programs, children and their parents can both take swimming lessons at the same time.
