ADULT LEARN-TO-SWIM (ALTS) – Fall 2025
October 14 - November 13, 2025
Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Please note: Participants in need of childcare – we are collaborating with Kalamazoo College’s Center for Community Engagement to offer free childcare during ALTS.
This beginner-level adult swim lessons is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is not yet able to swim with their face in the water or float unassisted in deep water. The ALTS course includes 10 lessons across 10 classes over 5 weeks and will be capped at 12 participants with an instructor:participant ratio of 1:3.
If you are able to swim the length of a pool and are interested in stroke development, you may be more suited to participate in the Learn-to-Lap-Swim program offered by ZOOM or try Kalamazoo Masters by attending a practice.
Cost
$45 per person
This program is supported by a generous ALTS grant from USA Swimming and USMS.
Includes: 10 lessons, goggles, and swim cap
Please let us know if you need assistance with purchasing a swim suit.
Repeat ALTS students: If you are repeating ALTS you are required to have an annual membership to United States Masters Swimming (USMS) for insurance purposes. Annual USMS memberships can be obtained here: https://www.usms.org/join-usms/join-or-renew and cost $75. This is in addition to the cost of the ZOOM ALTS class.

Kalamazoo Masters Swim Club (ZOOM) was chosen as one of 38 adult programs in 24 states, from the USA Swimming Foundation’s nationwide network of swim lesson providers to receive grant money in 2024.
